All the talk today across the country is about the exact route of the Olympic torch and the list of honoured people that will carry it.
Although the torch itself will not pass by our Post Office, which appears to be a bit of an oversight by the powers that be, it will be carried by Ian Buchanan of Bampton.
The photograph is taken from the official London Olympics 2012 site detailing the route and the torchbearers. http://www.london2012.com/games/olympic-torch-relay/torchbearers/
It is not the greatest of sites as it took me ages to find Ian in the list and it looks like a dyslexic typist put in Ian’s age.
Ian will be carrying the torch through Great Torrington on the 21st May.
One of our earlier customers this morning, on finding no queue and with two of us waiting to serve him had to resort to
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
(Note this is the PC version of course!)
This customer was trying very hard not to be mentioned in the blog but evidently has not tried hard enough.
He even came back in this afternoon and related how he got rid of a nuisance call.
“Hello sir, do you have difficulty getting into the bath?”
“No, I don’t have a bath”
“What, you don’t have a bath sir?” “Do you have a shower?”
“No, I don’t have a shower”
“I have a tin bath that I hang on the back of the scullery door”
It was a nice bright sunny day here today.
A few clouds kept interfering with sunlight this afternoon which is a pain as I have to put the blinds down when the sun shines so I can see my screen then pull the blind back up whenever possible in order not to miss any blogging opportunity outside.
In fact the blinds were up and down like bride’s nightie all afternoon.
